Photos of our Life ~~ Sheila & Ed

33. Powerful

This image was taken at the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester.  Ed, Karen and I went on another outing — we are having such a blast!  This is three images combined as you can imagine the light was interesting but tough to work with.  This was also taken thru glass.  If you look (magnify) in the crook of the elbow — you’ll be surprised at the date that you see!

The detail on these antique armor is amazing, almost as much as trying to walk in one! Nicely captured.

I just saw your jousting shot, and I wondered if you were at the Armor museum in Worcester. It’s been prolly 20 years since we’ve been there–it’s a fascinating place. And this is a remarkable shot that shows the intricate detail worked into the armor as well as the patina of the aged metal.

    • Bobbi – yes, we were at the Higgins Armory in Worcester. It is an unbelievable place. It’s funny though — growing up in Worcester I had been there as a kid and it looked a lot smaller this week than it did back in those days!

Did you find the date on the arm?

  7. The workmanship on this is outstanding…wonder how many hours were put in making this armor? Great detail shot working under such difficult lighting!

  8. This is a wonderful HDR image. Did they allow you to use a tripod indie or were these hand held?

Wow- 1554 – that’s old! Love what you did with the shot. It is a challenging place to take photos cause of the light.

  10. What a catch! I’m always amazed at how we always seems to find different detail in the same places. I love the gold tones, too.

  11. Fun to see both of your takes on the same place. Amazing detail in something from the 16th century, not to mention what is often tricky light in a museum.
